Speckled Brownstone with flowers!

The white satin glaze allows the speckles to shine through everywhere!  But then it has a satin feel, not at all rough.

Today's quote:

"I'll tell you how the Sun rose..." by Emily Dickinson.

I’ll tell you how the Sun rose —
A Ribbon at a time —
The Steeples swam in Amethyst —
The news, like Squirrels, ran —
The Hills untied their Bonnets —
The Bobolinks — begun —
Then I said softly to myself —
“That must have been the Sun"!
But how he set — I know not —
There seemed a purple stile
That little Yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while —
Till when they reached the other side,
A Dominie in Gray —
Put gently up the evening Bars —
And led the flock away —

  1. That's a great glaze on the speckled clay. It reminds of glaze I used to use called "wheat". That glaze started to misbehave a few years ago. I have a test of it in our newly rebuilt kiln, that is cooling now. Fingers crossed that I can start using it again.

    1. Hope your "wheat" new batch of glaze is satisfactory for you. Our Satin white has been giving me a lot of pin-holing, usually on the white clay I use (Little Loafers from Highwater.) So I'm giving it a rest, and even am brushing on 3 coats of a Mayco matt white. Not too thrilled to do that, but I think having thin coats may help of the Satin White. However, I've seen some pinholing when it was thin also...ah the fun of chemistry and fire!
